I really enjoy podcasts. When I was in my undergraduate program, a few of my professors would tape their lessons and put them on a podcast for us to listen to. I think that they are very useful and very easy to use. After browsing through all the podcasts on iTunes, I found so many podcasts that I could use in my classroom.
The first podcast that I subscribed to was called Storynory - Stories for kids. Storynory has a new audio story every week. It is narrated by Natasha Gostwick and friends. The stories include fairy tales, new children's stories, poems, myths, and adventures. This is a podcast that I will definitely use my classroom. My students love it when stories are read to them and I think that this is something they will always look forward to. The second podcast that I subscribed to was called Why? The Science Show for Kids. This is a science show for kids where each week, Dr. Dave Brodbeck answers a question about science for students. I teach a science skills class and this would be great as a bellringer or opener for my science class. I think that the students would really enjoy it.
I am excited to start using these podcasts in my classroom and can't wait to see what my students think of them.
